Gibson Les Paul Studio Double Trouble Limited Run
Fitted with Burstbucker Pro with Double Classic White bobbins
The Gibson Les Paul Studio Double Trouble is back, and now available in new Cherry Sunburst and Dirty Lemon Burst finishes. These limited-run models first debuted last summer and are back for 2026.
Les Paul Studio Double Trouble
These Gibson Les Paul Studio Double Trouble are named after the double Burstbucker Pro pickups with uncovered white bobbins.
This year, they are available for a limited time in both Cherry Sunburst and Dirty Lemon Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. The finish is complemented by a cream pickguard (with matching plastics) and a set of Gold Top Hat control knobs.
Ultra Modern
These models come with Gibson’s ‘Ultra Modern weight-relieved’ mahogany bodies with a standard carved, plain maple top. They are paired with a SlimTaper profile mahogany neck, a traditional bound rosewood fretboard fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets, and a set of acrylic trapezoid inlays.
Other key features include a Graph Tech nut, a set of Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons, and an Aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece.
The Double White Burstbucker Pro pickups are controlled by a standard three-way switch and individual volume and tone controls for each humbucker, plus they feature push/pull switches that tap the coils, effectively doubling your tonal variety by giving each pickup two distinct voices.
Verdict
The Les Paul Studio is a stripped-back model without body binding, and so these have a specific aesthetic that you may love or hate.
They are US-made guitars, so you pay a premium for that. These could be great-sounding guitars, and if you need a Les Paul under $2k and want American-made, these could be the answer. They are a limited-edition run, so if you want one, don’t hang around too long.
Price & Availability
The new Gibson Les Paul Studio Double Trouble is available now at Thomann in Cherry Sunburst and Dirty Lemon Burst. The price includes a Gibson soft-shell case, $1766/£1590/€1799 each.

Hmm, should have kept the neck without binding in my opinion. Studio LP’s used to be the ultimate workhorse guitars, but now they’re really pushing it.
I think it will feel a bit more comfortable compared to no binding. I have Gibsons both with and without binding, and the ones with feel a little smoother on the edge when you play. However, I do tend to wrap my thumb over a lot when I play, so YMMV
