Dammit! I reported the other day on my hope that the CV device in Bitwig Studio 2 and the little box that Bastl are bringing to the party were going to bridge the connection between regular audio interfaces and Eurorack modular. Sadly not.

The Bastl box called KLIK is still a very useful thing in that it amplifies the Clock/Reset signals coming from your DC coupled audio interface to the right level for Eurorack. This is great, but not what I wanted.

This leaves us with a limited number of audio interfaces that can provide the DC coupled outputs that can handle CV signals. Let’s hope that we see more of those at the show. Maybe someone else has tackled the AC to DC issue that would enable us to get control voltage from software and into our modular without having to buy a new audio interface. We shall see.

I’m not saying that the Bitwig and Bastl thing is not marvellous and awesome – it is, it’s just not quite as awesome as I hoped.

Here’s an image they’ve released of the setup they’re using.
