If you haven’t already tried out Thomann’s Stompenberg FX, you’re missing out on a world of fun! Imagine being able to try out over 150 effects pedals from the comfort of your own home. Imagine trying them out using pre-recorded loops, your own loops, or even by actually plugging-in your guitar, mic, whatever, in real-time! Well, wonder no longer, as that’s exactly what you can do with Stompenberg FX!

When you play through Stompenberg FX, you’re actually hearing and playing through a real pedal in real-time over the internet. The browser interface even lets you adjust the settings on the pedal, as if it was sat right there in front of you.

Real-Time Tech

So how is something like this even possible? You might think these are digitally modelled recreations, but you’d be wrong! Deep within Thomann HQ, the guts of over 150 pedals have been wired in and hooked up to the internet. However, if you were to look at the pedals hooked into Stompenberg FX, you might not recognise them!

Like patients at Frankenstein’s lab, each pedal has its sockets and controls removed, and its main board stripped from its case. After that, Thomann’s boffins connect up the pedal circuitry to the behemoth rack circuitry which makes up the Stompenberg FX.

There is every kind of pedal you can imagine, and from all the major brands, for you to demo. There’s even a built-in cabinet simulator for when you want to hear how the effect sounds like through an amplifier cabinet; especially ideal for demoing overdrive and distortion pedals.

Try before you buy!

So if the Stompenberg FX (if you were wondering, Stompenberg translates loosely as “Stomp Mountain”!) has piqued your interest, you should head over there straight away. Be warned though! It gets quite addictive and potentially quite expensive, so make yourself comfy and keep an eye on that credit card! Check out the video below to see it in action.
