Julian Schmauch is a freelance writer, musician, and producer from Berlin. He plays drums in the rock duo Chaos Commute, produces dark pop and industrial music under various aliases, and has taught Ableton Live and music production from 2016 to 2022 in various Berlin production schools. At Gearnews, Julian writes about guitars, basses, and effects pedals: news, purchase advisors, amp and pedal reviews, as well as the “Guitar Tone” series, in which he recreates the sounds of well-known songs. At Bonedo, Julian authored over 100 workshops, reviews, and purchase advisors on music production software from 2015 to 2023, as well as workshops and tutorials for BackstagePro. He now also works as a copywriter for companies in the software and guitar industries.
