The Austrian Audio OC818 condenser microphone is now available in black
Austrian Audio has listened to its customers and announced a new black variant of its innovative OC818 condenser microphone. This means that the mic, which features dual diaphragms and custom programmable polar patterns, is now available in two different colors, which is great news for broadcasting and live applications.

The OC818 large-diaphragm condenser microphone was one of the first products when Austrian Audio set up shop back in 2019, and it remains one of the company’s flagship products. The microphone features a unique ceramic capsule design with dual diaphragms and supports multiple polar patterns (cardioid, supercardioid, figure 8, omnidirectional, custom programmable), which can be switched wirelessly via the PolarPilot App.

The OC818 also features two outputs for recording the two diaphragms separately. This enables you to design your own custom polar patterns using the company’s Polar Designer plug-in, and even adjust the polar pattern after recording. There’s also an open-source Stereo Creator plug-in, which lets you record in stereo with just one OC818, or employ various stereo and post processing techniques using two microphones. It’s a pretty rad piece of technology.
Until now, the Austrian Audio OC818 was only available in silver. Now the company has announced a new black variant, which gives you another color option for all applications where the looks of the microphone are important. Austrian Audio is thinking of broadcasting or live applications, but maybe you prefer a black microphone in the studio, too.
The Austrian Audio OC818 black comes as a Studio Set, which includes a shock mount, Mini XLR adapter, microphone clip and windscreen.
