After the Big Deal: Suno v6 Disappoints Users and Labels Alike
Major Backlash Over Sound Quality – Plus a New Lawsuit
Just a few days ago, we covered Suno v6 and its fresh partnerships with Warner Music, BMG, and Believe. Now it turns out the new model generation isn’t landing well with a lot of users, and the music industry isn’t exactly satisfied either. On Reddit, users are already calling the update “the death of Suno,” and Sony Music and Universal Music have reportedly filed a new 45-page lawsuit on top of it.
Suno v6 Under Fire: User Backlash and a New Lawsuit From Sony and Universal Music
Suno v6: Where the Backlash Is Coming From
Complaints about v6’s audio quality have piled up on r/SunoAI since release. One user’s viral post flat-out calls the update “unusable,” describing tracks that come out flat, vocals that sound muddy, and overall sound quality he calls straight-up terrible. Suno claims the old 5.5 voices are still usable, but according to that same post, they don’t sound anything like they did in version 5.5 anymore. Words like “muddy” and “muffled” show up constantly across the subreddit at this point, and one satirical fake leak of a supposed follow-up update pokes fun at the degraded sound quality directly.
I get where this criticism is coming from, honestly. Suno’s vocals have always struck me as pretty thin and unnaturally recorded, even in earlier versions, especially compared to quality real vocal recordings. Having tested v6 myself, the vocals genuinely sound flatter now compared to the previous version, less depth, less body, less overall dynamics. To me, that reads more like papering over the old problem than an actual improvement.
A New Lawsuit From Sony Music and Universal Music
Alongside the user backlash, Suno’s legal situation is anything but calm right now. According to Variety, Sony Music and Universal Music filed a new 45-page lawsuit on September 18, the second major lawsuit from the labels against Suno since the first one back in 2024. The claim: v6 still infringes on Sony’s and UMG’s copyrighted catalog, even if the new model was built on top of earlier, allegedly infringing Suno models.
Training a “new” model on the output of an infringing model doesn’t eliminate the infringement, the labels argue via Variety, it just launders it. V6 isn’t really a fresh start, in their view, it’s “the fruit of the same poisoned tree.”
My Take on the Labels’ Lawsuit
Honestly, I think the labels are taking the easy way out here, probably because they can’t really keep up with the sheer flood of AI music apps at this point. Still, labels of all people should be standing 100 percent behind artists and rights holders, and every open issue should genuinely be sorted out before announcing new partnerships like the one with Warner Music, BMG, and Believe.
What This Means for Suno Users Right Now
For users, the situation stays messy for now. On one side, there’s a community that’s clearly unhappy with v6’s sound quality, some canceling their subscriptions outright. On the other, labels keep pushing legal action against Suno despite the fresh partnerships. Whether Suno responds to the audio quality complaints anytime soon, maybe with a follow-up patch, isn’t clear yet.
Where Suno Actually Stands Right Now
Caught between unhappy users and a fresh lawsuit, Suno is genuinely stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. How this plays out for the newly announced partnerships with Warner Music, BMG, and Believe remains to be seen, but this relaunch clearly isn’t going smoothly on either front at the moment.
What’s your take? Have you tried v6 yourself, and does your listening experience match what the community is saying?

Just completed 2 songs to my liking on v6. a few tweaks and found all to my satisfaction. it has always been my practice to remix using distrokid
I have been working on a few tracks with v6 for days now and I am happy with how it sounds. I did run into a warping sound on one track, but not a huge deal. I figure I’ll remaster it and move on to my other tracks.
I have been using Suno for a few months now, the older version did have better audio quality than the version. 6, but I have to say that the V6 has alot more issues, promt is ignored and lyrics are changed, and yes the audio quality is muddy and muffled.
I totally agree with the complaints about v6. I am fairly new to Suno, and enjoy creating a wide variety of genres and fusion genres. I uploaded my recorded voice with v5.5, and found it fairly realistic. I’m consistently using v6-Wild instead, which still has less dynamic audio, and keeps trying to change my mezzo soprano to a male voice. I have to run dozens and dozens of iterations (losing all my points along the way), to get anything even close to what I hear in my head. I’ve tried remastering v6-Wild with v-6, and the sound is even worse — sounds heavily autotuned, which I despise, and the instruments I specify often appear only in the first few bars. The remainder of the instrumentation is clearly a cyclical automated repeat of loops, for a very artificial sound. Honestly I am terribly disappointed.
labels on f all people? who writes this gak?
I’ve had few issues with v6, its a step up for my artist and genres. It is still able to make my unique genres, I just had to rewrite my prompts for its new way of understanding them. Audio quality is most of the time fine, I don’t care about credits, its cheap, ill make generations till “the one” appears. Its always been that way for me in all models.
Careful, dont be good with a tool or the reddit crybabies will down vote you here since they cant figure it out lol so pathetic.
mixed feelings on v6 done a couple of 50s jerry lee lewis style songs and they came out spot on after 3 or 5 tries, apart from some extra bits on the end that are rubbish but can soon edit those out. but then I’ve done a couple of 50s style songs that sound awful guitar sounds like a hurdy gurdy voice is flat and lyrics broken up , [Intro-frantic 50’s rock and roll piano ] sounds like a cat on a keyboard
For people who are claiming muddy sound and mix, what are you using to listen to the mixes? PC speakers, home stereo, phone? As an audio engineer, the best way to evaluate sound and mix is with professional headphones and that even varies a little bit from brand to brand
have subscribed to suno now for 2 months, before the v6 upgrade the choice of versions 4,5 etc have produced excellent quality results. v6 is a huge disappointment and the fact that subscribers cannot choose from previous versions reminds me of the car manufacturer Henry Ford. his logo was….. you can have any colour car you want, as long as it is black! ….. Suno have adopted the same attitude, we simply don’t have a choice of choosing a version we like!v6 wild and mini pro are terrible! therefore I have no option but to use v6, thanks suno ! I’m now looking for other ai music sites.
The people commenting are so pathetic and untalented, I doubt if they even know if something is muddy, thin or flat-sounding,
They’re probably AI bots. VoidGod replied to its own post.
They might have been people at one time, but they’ve been assimilated.
Perfeito no restante! Só que este problema inutiliza a música, porque ela começa lindamente e continua antes da metade do tempo integral, de forma devastadora.
