Steinberg Cubasis is one of the most comprehensive DAWs for iOS, Android and Chrome OS tablets and smartphones. Ever since version 3.0, its feature set rivals that of many desktop DAWs. And the latest update to version 3.4 adds even more essential features to the mobile DAW. The update is free for existing owners of Cubasis 3.

Besides the usual bugfixes and workflow improvements, Steinberg has added a very important feature that makes Cubasis even more suitable for live performances and studio sessions on your mobile device. Cubasis 3.4 supports Ableton Link, which means that it can sync to other Ableton-Link-enabled software and hardware devices over WiFi. Great news indeed!

Steinberg has also updated Cubasis’ MIDI recording features. You can now place the locators freely to start recording, and there are new Chord buttons for creating chord sequences via single taps. A new MIDI time-stretch feature lets you adjust the speed of MIDI sequences with just a few taps.

Cubasis 3.4 also includes improvements to the State Save feature. According to Steinberg, the DAW now reopens projects in exactly the same state as before, including things like zoom levels, mixer channel width and user setup choices. This means that you can continue right where you left off after taking a break from a project.

All in all, Steinberg says that there are over 75 improvements in Cubasis 3.4. While not all of those are as groundbreaking as Ableton Link support, that’s quite an extensive list!
