Schaack Audio Technologies released QuadraChor, a chorus and modulation effects plug-in developed together with trance DJ and producer Sean Tyas. QuadraChor is mainly intended for thickening and widening synthesizer sounds, the way decent chorus effects tend to do. Of course, the plug-in can deal with other audio sources just as effectively.
Schaack Audio Technologies QuadraChor – you don’t need more chorus!
The inspiration for QuadraChor comes from the Novation Supernova synthesizer. Trance DJ and producer Sean Tyas wanted to get those mad thicc sounds in software form and got Schaack to make a plug-in around that.
QuadraChor’s colorful user interface is equal parts Pokémon and VSTs circa 2005. It’s also seamlessly resizable, proving one can make GUIs both fun and flexible. It has ten sliders for all parameters: Size, Wrath, Agility, Strength, Motion, Speed, Hipass, Lopass, Widen and Dry/Wet. The over-the-top chorus is complete by the switchable “ArachnoChor” mode which pushes the effect further.
The QuadraChor demos sound promising and the testimonials are glowing. Me, I’d buy the effect just for the interface alone. More plug-ins should be going for the nostalgic look (with modern sensibility). That, and Pokémon! It really irks me how most software these days is designed like it’s supposed to run on a tablet. It’s made for a freaking PC, so make it look good in the cracked VSTs blog! (disclaimer: warez sucks. support your favorite developers.)
QuadraChor price and availability info
You can get QuadraChor from the Schaack Audio Technologies website for EUR 46. The plug-in works under macOS 10.9 and Windows XP or later in VST and AU formats. 32-bit is an option for Windows. A limited demo version and a PDF user manual are also available for download.
