Cmajor Pro-54: Free Browser-based Prophet-5 Emulation

Remember Native Instruments Pro-53? If you produced music in the 2000s, this now-defunct Prophet-5 emulation was almost certainly in your plugin folder. As the first widely available software emulation of the Prophet, the plugin graced countless productions of the time. It has now mostly been superseded by more modern emulations by Arturia, Softube, u-he, and others.

But what if we told you that you can now play the original Pro-53 for free in your browser? Yes, that’s right: The developers of the Cmajor DSP programming language have adapted the classic plugin and turned it into a browser app named Pro-54. Strictly speaking, that means that it isn’t a plugin anymore, but I think it still deserves a spot in our free plugins section – especially since it’s MIDI-controllable. According to the developers, they left the original source code mostly intact – even the original low-res GUI is still there. The goal is to showcase the capabilities of Cmajor. We can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with next.

Analog Obsession MoMa: Passive Mojo Box

Analog Obsession MoMa is a passive “mojo box” inspired by the Ethan Winer-designed Mojo Maestro. According to Analog Obsession, this is his first plugin that uses machine learning technology.

Moma offers a choice of four modes: Glue with even or odd harmonics, and Mojo with even or odd harmonics. The large Amount knob is for dialing in the desired amount of mojo, while the Mix knob controls the dry/wet mix. Simple as that.

MoMa is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
