Friedman Amplification announced a new pedal to its range of boutique effects at NAMM. The new Small Box captures the sound of the Friedman Small Box 50-watt amp head in a smaller pedal-form.

The new Small Box pedal is amp guru Dave Friedman’s latest drive pedal, designed to mimic the tonal characteristics of his Small Box 50 Watt amp series.

The controls on the pedal are similar to those of the amp it is based on. It has knobs for Bass, Treble, Mid, Gain, Volume and Presence, plus a Gain Structure switch on the side. We’re still waiting on the Friedman website to update with more details.

Friedman says the pedal gives a classic AC/DC tone, and works well with a clean amp, as well as a boost for an already overdriven amp.

Amps Galore

We get to hear Dave talking about the new Small Box pedal, along with his new amps for 2020, in a video uploaded by YouTube channel 6STRING BRYAN. In the video, Dave mentions the new Small Box pedal will be out in the second quarter of this year.

With all these great new products, it looks like 2020 is going to be a bumper year for the American boutique amp company.
