A US dealer has accidentally leaked the new MXR Duke Of Tone overdrive pedal. The now-pulled listing showed a clear image and pricing for this Analogman circuit. We presume it will be another collaboration, similar to the recent MXR Timmy overdrive pedal collaboration from last year.

MXR Duke Of Tone

This new MXR Duke Of Tone looks to be very similar to the Analogman Prince of Tone and King of Tone V4 circuits. I’m guessing it will be a single-sided affair, just like the Prince of Tone and based on BluesBreaker-style overdrive. The image below shows clearly the control layout and it even has the various gain modes accessible via a mini-toggle switch on the front of the pedal.

These three modes are labelled OD, Boost and Dist. Then it has controls for Volume, Drive and Tone along with a single footswitch, and I would guess it is powered externally via a 9 v power supply, as the pedal is a mini format unit.

King of Tone

The twin overdrive Analogman KOT v4 pedal has a waiting list that is getting on for nearly 4 years and the single-sided Prince of Tone is currently a faster way of getting one side of that overdrive pedal. It looks like this new MXR Custom Shop Duke of Tone is the answer to getting the tone without a huge waiting list, but again, it is only a single overdrive like the Prince of Tone.

Leak

Sweetwater accidentally leaked the pedal and they state that it is due out at the end of August with an MSRP of $149.99. They have now pulled the accidental leak and so we have no further information to go on currently.

I have seen a few people over on a Facebook pedal group put the item in their basket, only to have it removed this morning. I will update you if I find any more details, but for now, it looks like a great option for a lot of players that want the tone, without the waiting list. If you have never heard the two original Analogman pedals, then check out the two videos below to hear them both in action.
