The new Aclam Guitars The Woman Tone pedal is the latest in their series of effects designed to capture a signature guitar tone. Based on Eric Clapton’s tone in Cream and offering psychedelic sustain galore.
Aclam Guitars The Woman Tone
The Aclam Guitars The Woman Tone pedal is based on that Cream-era Eric Clapton guitar tone. Expect thick Plexi-style overdrive and bags of warmth. Clapton in 1968 was playing Marshall amps at very high volumes and playing Gibson guitars. Normally an SG called The Fool with a psychedelic paint job was his weapon of choice for that Cream ‘Woman Tone’ and so this pedal is attempting to replicate this specific era.

Marijke Koger, former leader of the art collective The Fool and where Clapton’s SG got its name, has created the artwork for this new pedal.

Controls
The Woman Tone has three knobs labelled Volume, Woman Tone and Gain. It also features two footswitches, one to engage the effect and the other to activate the Woman Tone knob, plus it also lights up the LED above it. As with all Aclam pedals, it features their unique pedal board mounting system via the two screws recessed on either side of the unit. Though, these only work with their specific pedalboard mounting systems.

I was always inclined to believe that Clapton achieved his famous Woman Tone just by turning down his Tone knob on the guitar and cranking it through a very loud Marshall amp. Therefore, this amp could save you from going deaf, by getting you that hallowed guitar tone at much lower volumes.
This latest model follows on from their Cinnamon Drive, Windmiller and the Dr Robert pedals. All of them have had positive reviews, so it could well be worth checking out if you are a fan of that early Clapton guitar tone.
