Fender Diamond Legend Cabronita Telecaster
Maybe you didn’t have cash the first time around, and thought you’d start saving until it showed up again. Well, you’re in luck! The Fender Diamond Legend Carbonita Telecaster, which was Master Builder Yoriy Shishkov’s creation for NAMM 2013, has been spotted on Thomann’s online shop. If this is indeed the same one-of-a-kind guitar from 2013, how did it find its way here and what has it been up to?
The Legend returns
The guitar has an alder body sandwiched between a 4A maple top and back, a 4A birdseye maple neck, and comes loaded with a pair of TV Jones pickups. The body and fretboard have an intricate hand-hammered silver inlay. But what sets this instrument truly apart from most instruments, are the 377 real 8.5 carat diamonds, most of which make up the outer edge of the body.
At €111,000, it’s a steal, if you consider the Fender Faberge Coronation Stratocaster that Yuriy Shishkov made for this year’s NAMM. Not much meaningful research has been done into the tonal properties of diamonds, so if you get one or the other, perhaps you can do a side-by-side comparison for us paupers.
What do you think of such over-the-top instruments? Are you able to enjoy them as objects of art, or does it make you cringe to see an insanely expensive guitar that is driven more by form than function?
