The Digitakt tends to get all the attention leaving the Digitone and Digitone Keys feeling somewhat underserved – not any more. Here’s a chunky update to the FM synth OS that should make owners feel better about themselves and their Elektron box of choice.

The effects section has been given the power to link itself across the unit as a whole via a GLOBAL FX/MIX menu. All the parameters on the internal mixer, external mixer, chorus, delay and reverb pages can be set to global so that when you change them for one pattern it affects all the patterns in the project. This also works for the Overdrive parameter.

The external stereo input can now be split into two mono inputs with separate effects sends which gives the effect engine much more scope to play with other hardware.

Other tweaks include adding a delay parameter to the filter envelope and improving the LFO Fade envelope. Audio and sync bugs when using Overbridge have been dealt with.

There’s been a lot of work done smoothing out the graphics and improving the visuals in certain places. You can also now set the intensity of the LEDs and OLED screen which must be in the most-requested-feature category.
