Ever since the first instruments could be electrically amplified, tinkerers have been trying to expand their sonic possibilities. We’ve come a long way since those early units, and the makers of a new film are celebrating all these amazing effects in its first ever feature-length film: The Pedal Movie.

The Pedal Movie

This is the first full-length feature film by Reverb, documenting those wonderful little boxes that either make subtle changes to your tone, or can make it entirely unrecognisable. The Pedal Movie will feature musicians and producers Billy Corgan, Steve Vai and Steve Albini, among others, as well as engage with pedal builders including Wampler, JHS, Chase Bliss, and Meris.

The movie documents stompbox culture and covers its history all the way from the early Roger Mayer effects built for Jimi Hendrix to the current market full of innovative and boutique builders.

Trailer and Collaborations

You can watch the trailer for the movie below. The trailer also coincided with the launch of two new pedals, the Bliss Factory, a collaboration between ZVex and Chase Bliss Audio, and the Time Shadows from EarthQuaker Devices and Death By Audio.

The movie was originally meant to be released during summer 2020, but has been pushed back to January 2021 due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
