PreSonus says that Studio One 5.5 includes “the number one user features request for the Project Page”. The update introduces full track volume, master volume and insert effect plug-in automation to the Project Page. You can write automation in real time or draw it using the Paint tool. The Project Page now also features Clip Gain Envelopes for precise control over gain issues while mastering without the need for any dynamic plug-ins.

There’s also a new Listen Bus on the Project Page, which lets you monitor through room correction plug-ins or headphone monitoring tools without affecting the master output.

PreSonus has also enhanced the DAW’s digital publishing features. You can now export multiple formats at once, so you can create different versions for high-res releases and streaming services in a single step. To make this even easier, Studio One 5.5 offers new Target Loudness options for popular streaming services, along with a new dithering algorithm that minimizes conversion artifacts.

The new version of the DAW also comes with many enhancements to the production and performance workflows. You can now drag any MIDI file directly to the Chord Track to extract its chords, and create custom strum patterns by dragging note events in a selected chord. And PreSonus says that the Ampire XT guitar amp/pedalboard plug-in now offers faster preset switching optimized for the Show Page, so you can switch presets from a MIDI pedalboard during a live performance.

Other improvements include an option to save automation data with mix scenes, which lets you experiment with multiple automation passes. And the Plug-in Nap feature that was introduced in Studio One 5.4 is now available on a per plug-in basis.
