UK pedal maker ThorpyFX has been crafting a new box of tricks, the Deep Oggin. This chorus/vibrato pedal was co-designed by Adrian Thorpe and the legendary Dan Coggins of Lovetone Effects fame. You know that if these two are involved it could be something very special indeed.
ThorpyFX Deep Oggin
Ex British Army, Major Adrian Thorpe MBE is a bit of an all-around effects pedal genius. I’m lucky enough to know him and I cannot fault his work in any way, shape or form.
Now that is out of the way, today’s news that he has been working on a brand new chorus/vibrato pedal is more than welcome. To top it all, we find out that the other person developing the Deep Oggin was Dan Coggins of legendary (and highly collectable) Lovetone Effects.
This new pedal is, of course, all-analogue in design. It has controls for depth, rate, blend, volume and treble and offers both dry and wet outputs. There is a teaser video below of what the Deep Oggin can do and I must say it does sound very lush indeed.
ThorpyFX is touting this as providing a “three-dimensional” sound. I think this new modulation pedal will be on many players’ wish list for 2019. I know that Adrian never skips on component quality and his designs are bomb proof, so expect a heavy, touring quality boutique pedal.
I’ll stop gushing now and you can enjoy the short teaser video below. These new pedals should be emerging sometime around March this year. So keep an eye out for them on ThorpyFX’s website and dealers worldwide.
