Analog Obsession Kolin, which came out around 2020 if I’m not mistaken, was already an excellent emulation of the Collins 26U1 Vari-Mu compressor of the 1960s. The developer has now gone the extra mile and introduced KolinMB, a multiband version with a bunch of exciting extras. KolinMB not only features three separate bands with adjustable crossovers. Each band also has its own external sidechain input and mix knob! KolinMB truly takes the vintage tube limiter to the next level.

KolinMB is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.

Ronan Fed NUBE: Stereo Delay with modulated Filter

NUBE by Ronan Fed is a free stereo delay plugin in the same style as last week’s AIRE. It’s got a nice set of features with stereo and ping-pong modes, tempo sync, high-cut and low-cut filters for the input signal, and damping. Moreover, NUBE even features an LFO-modulated resonating filter, as well as additional phaser and reverb effects. It’s not the most groundbreaking delay, but it looks like a very useful plugin for throwing a quick delay effect on any kind of signal.

NUBE is available in VST and VST3 formats for Windows.

Witch Pig Neutraliser

Neutraliser is a gate/expander plugin with a colorful GUI built around some beautiful fractal graphics. The little fractals in the corners serve as controls. You can use Neutraliser to shape classic gated reverb effects on drum tracks, for example. Or throw it on a guitar to control the signal before it hits your distortion effect or amp. For a dynamic effect, I think I’d prefer some sort of more meaningful metering to the fractals, but then again, it’s always best to trust your ears anyway.

Neutraliser is available for Windows and macOS in VST3 format.
