The Fender Acoustasonic Player Jazzmaster is the very latest version of the more affordable hybrid acoustic series. Taking the offset shape and making it in Mexico will save you around $800 when compared to the American version.

This latest Acoustasonic Playermodel is based around the Jazzmaster body shape, offering that offset design at a more affordable price.  The construction uses a mahogany body and a solid Sitka spruce top. These models use Fender’s Patented Stringed Instrument Resonance System, or SIRS  for short. This helps with the projection and overall acoustic tone.

Each guitar has a Modern Deep C neck profile and comes fitted with 22 narrow-tall frets to the rosewood fretboard. Other neck appointments include a GraphTech TUSQ nut and a set of white dot inlays.

They all have a polyester satin matte finish. These new Mexican-made guitars are available in Two-Color Sunburst, Shell Pink, Antique Olive and an Ice Blue finish. Giving players a decent set of colours to choose from on launch.

Voice Selector

They come with a three-way Voice Selector switch and are fitted with the Tim Shaw-designed Fender Acoustasonic Shawbucker plus the Fishman Under-Saddle Transducer pickup system. A Blend knob is used to select and blend these three voices, plus you have an overall volume knob to control the output.

This gives you access to six core tones:

  • 1A: Fender Electric Shawbucker Clean
  • 1B: Fender Electric Shawbucker High Gain
  • 2A: Piezo Clean
  • 2B: Lo-Fi Piezo
  • 3A: Rosewood Concert Body with Slotted Headstock
  • 3B: Mahogany Dreadnought

If you like the offset guitar body shape and are in the market for a hybrid acoustic guitar, then these could well be for you. If you prefer a Telecaster shape then the original Acoustasonic Player model is still available as well.  Earlier this week there was also news of the new Lava Music Blue Lava hybrid acoustic models. Therefore, there are a lot of choices for players on a budget.
