Apple Spring 2024: Re-designed iPad Pro with OLED and new Macs

Mark Gurman is one of the leading Apple leakers. His predictions about new products from the giant from Cupertino have been correct more times than most other Apple leakers. And now, Gurman offers his prediction for the Apple Spring 2024! The two big launches will be the redesigned iPad Pro and updates for the MacBook Air series.

The new iPad Pro will look different and come with Apple’s latest CPU generation, M3. In addition, this new generation of tablets will be Apple’s first to have OLED displays. Up until now, Apple used a so-called “Liquid Retina XDR Display” for its tablets. In comparison, OLED is said to be both more energy-efficient and higher quality.

Furthermore, these new iPad Pro models are said to come with MagSafe wireless charging and a new Magic Keyboard made from aluminum. It is also not unlikely that this Apple Spring 2024 highlight will come with a new camera for higher-quality images and videos. Additionally, there will possibly also be a new, bigger iPad Air model. As for the iPad Pro, it will likely be a model sized 10.9″ and a new, even bigger one at 12.9″

MacBook Air with M3 and WWDC 2024

In addition to new iPads, Gurman is also quite certain that Apple’s entry line of laptops, MacBook Air, will be updated with the company’s latest CPUs, the M3 generation. With this addition, Apple makes a big push to get games to run smoother and look better on Macs. Because with M3, ray tracing and mesh shading, two technologies that aid high-quality graphics rendering in games, will be hardware-accelerated.

Once the iPads and MacBook Air models are released, we’re on the road to WWDC 2024 in June. Apple’s developer conference is usually the time when the company announces updates for its line of operating systems, macOS, iOS, watchOS, and iPadOs. This year, the focus will likely be on Vision Pro, and a new, probably AI-assisted version of Siri is expected to be unveiled.

Obviously, the big news this year in Apple land, outside these exciting products for Apple Spring 2024, is Vision Pro. Given its high price, its limited availability, and the lack of killer apps that draw people towards it, it (literally) remains to be seen how this whole VR thing will turn out for the company. We’re excited but also a tiny bit skeptical as to who Apple’s target audience for this is, especially in music production land.

All that delightfully delicious super upgraded iPad Pro hardware is kinda wasted if the OS remains gimped and shackled.
