SSL Oracle: A Flexible Modern Console with Instant Recall
A console for the modern production era.
Is it possible to design an analogue console that can keep up with the workflows of today? Meet the SSL Oracle, a future-proof new console.
When it comes to innovation in mixing consoles, SSL has been a market leader since the company built the very first 4000 series consoles back in the 1970s. Today, SSL draws from this rich heritage in console design, combined with the latest technology to create the Oracle, a console for today’s audio engineers and producers.
SSL Oracle
Available in 24 and 48 mono line input options, the Oracle is equipped with SSL’s PureDrive mic pres and 4-band parametric EQs that can switch from E to G Series curves. Its design is definitive, with all the analogue circuitry contained within one or more 13U processing racks, depending on the configuration, for easy routing and integration.
With up to 112 inputs at mixdown, the Oracle has four stereo mix busses, 16 track busses, 10 aux busses, and 16 stereo ‘Flex’ groups. Like the Duality and AWS consoles, the Oracle can switch instantly between being a DAW control surface and an analogue mixer. However, the Oracle offers SSL 360 integration and its faders can be switched in groups, so you can create unique hybrid workflows.
The Oracle’s main processing bus is equipped with the BUS+ dynamics section, as well as the Dynamic EQ and Transient Expander processors. On the channel strips, you have the flexibility of long or short fader signal paths, and the EQ stage and insert point can be shifted in the chain to suit different applications.
The dynamic automation system, combined with ActiveAnalogue™ technology, allows instant recall, so you can switch from your favourite tracking configuration to mixing instantly without stopping for a tea break. In addition, the Oracle has mid-side encoding before the Stereo Group insert path and decoding after the insert return, so you can flexibly process and route mid-side signals.
Overall, with its immersive monitoring capabilities, including support for third-party immersive processors, as well as the O-Control software suite for managing different aspects of the console’s operations, the Oracle offers users something new and exciting, without losing that classic SSL console feel.
Pricing and Availability:
The SSL Oracle is currently available at SSL console dealers, and pricing starts at $150,000 for the base configuration (24-channel).
