Need some new equipment for your band, studio or rehearsal space? Just seen a must-have new modular synth or a tasty guitar but a bit short for cash this month? German music equipment retailer Thomann has announced a video contest with a top prize of EUR 1000 to spend in its online shop. It’s looking for creative, inspiring 60-second videos of you or your band giving a live performance.
But there’s a twist: the gig has to be impromptu, and in a place where you don’t normally see live music. Think airport lounge or shopping mall lift rather than rehearsal rooms or live venues, as ‘normal’ places for live gigs don’t qualify. Anything goes, so use your imagination.
Shoot your music video in an unusual place using a smartphone or video camera, then upload it to YouTube, Facebook or Instagram. Use the tags #MusicBelongsEverywhere and #Thomann. Thomann need the tags to find your entry, so if you don’t use them you won’t be able to win.
The deadline for uploads is 17th April 2017. The top prize is EUR 1000, but there are also second and third prizes of 500 and 250 Euros each.
