The WesAudio ngOmniBox is a complete stereo mix bus processor with EQ, compression, saturation, clipping, and stereo image processing.
WesAudio has expanded its ng (Next Generation) line of recallable studio hardware with the ngOmniBox. This comprehensive unit is designed to become the center of your final mix or mastering setup, with a range of processors and insert points for adding your favourite hardware units into the chain.
WesAudio ngOmniBox
The processing chain starts with a gain control, an insert point for adding external hardware, and a variable high-pass filter for adjusting the frequency range. Next, there is a 2-band passive EQ and a VCA bus compressor with a wet/dry control for parallel processing and an internal sidechain high-pass filter to preserve the low-end of the track.
For flexibility, the EQ and compressor stages can be easily flipped in the signal chain, in case you are using another EQ on the input insert point. From here, the signal finds its way into the analog saturation and clipping stages. Because saturation is such a versatile effect, it makes sense that there are drive intensity and wet/dry mix controls.
This gives you the power to overcook the saturation level slightly and then pull back the wet/dry percentage for a healthy blend that retains the integrity of the original signal. Meanwhile, the analog clipping stage uses a simple one-knob interface to dial in your sound. For adjusting the stereo image, there is a dedicated width processor with a high-pass filter to set which part of the frequency range you are widening.
Finally, the output stage has a trim control, and there is an output insert point here that can be set to stereo or mid-side processing modes. The plugin interface is equally impressive, as it resembles familiar plugins in your library, rather than a completely skeuomorphic design.
Overall, the ngOmniBox can become a versatile, recallable ecosystem, and the individual bypass switches on each processing stage and inserts allow customization to suit mixing or mastering workflows, and it’s also a great partner for the ngSumBox summing mixer.
