The new Eventide Audio TriceraChorus pedal is the company’s fourth model in its dot9 series and follows in the footsteps of the Blackhole, MicroPitch and UltraTap pedals. This time, as the name suggests, it is all about chorusing effects. For inspiration, Eventide looked at the pedals of the ’70s and the early ’80s.

Eventide Audio’s new TriceraChorus is a tri-stereo Bucket Brigade-style Chorus with Psychedelic Swirl, that the company is billing as the lushest chorus ever. The format is the same as the previous dot9 series of effects, and should look familiar to anyone that has used those three units.

Triple Threat & Swirl

The pedal offers three chorus voices and three unique chorus effects that can be used to create a nice wide stereo spread by using the Left, Centre, and Right knobs. The three chorus types consist of Chorus, Vibrato, and Chorale. The dedicated Swirl footswitch lets you choose psychedelic flanging, phasing and Univibe-style tones. You also have a dual-action Active footswitch that can be set to latching or momentary.

The basic controls consist of Mix, Rate and Detune, though each has dual functions and can also control Mix Env, Rate Env and Pitch. Then, the Left, Centre, and Right controls can also adjust Delay, Filter and Out Lvl. So it looks pretty easy to use and not overly complex, which is always good in my opinion.

Presets

Just like the other pedals in the dot9 series, you have five presets available on the pedal itself, plus dozens more via the dedicated Eventide Device Manager PC/Mac application. And, just like the rest of the pedals, it has a handy Guitar/Line Level switch on the rear, so it will play ball nicely with synths, effects loops and DAWs, etc. You also have MIDI capability over TRS, to integrate into more complex setups, if needed.

If you like just a touch of chorus, this may be over the top. But if you are really into your modulation, then this stereo chorus could be perfect for you.

RRP – USD 299
