Eventide has just unveiled its new Blackhole Reverb pedal. It uses the same Blackhole algorithm from the DSP4000 Ultra-Harmonizer, and can achieve all manner of reverbs for your guitar. If you love reverb like we do, this pedal is definitely worth checking out.

If you want a highly tweakable reverb pedal, then you should really take a look at the new Eventide Blackhole Reverb. You get up to 127 presets via MIDI, and can store five presets that can be quickly accessed from the pedal itself. These five presets can be retrieved via the latching dual-action active footswitch, which uses LEDs to let you know which preset is selected. Of course, if you use MIDI, you can go hog wild and access all 127!

Attaching an external expression foot controller allows you to engage with different parameters, such as pre-delay. You can pretty much assign whatever parameter you like using this method, which makes it perfect for live situations.

Lo, Hi, and Feedback controls let you play with the resonance of the effect, and the Gravity knob controls the amount of normal or inverse decay on the reverb tail.

Infinite & Freeze

The unit has two distinct reverb modes. The Infinite Mode layers the effect on top of a suspended reverb, while the Freeze Mode will hold the effect, allowing you to play over the reverb tail. Again, this all makes the Blackhole Reverb a very creative tool and perfect for sound manipulation. These two expressive modes should give you plenty of new ideas. And you can use the Catchup Mode to dial in your sound whilst you are toggling between the various presets or parameters.

If you love reverb, and if you have cash to splash, this pedal is a no-brainer. It’s a highly tweakable, MIDI compatible reverb effect that’s like a studio rack-unit condensed into a tiny box. The pedal should work equally well with any instrument, or within a DAW setup. Considering all the features it packs in, I can’t believe it’s so cheap!
