EVH has just announced a new guitar range called the 5150 Series, the latest model from Eddie Van Halen’s guitar company. These new modern rockers sound pretty epic and are available in both standard and deluxe finishes.

EVH 5150 Series Guitars

Hands down, if anyone knows how to build a guitar to rock out with, then that person is Eddie Van Halen. EVH is a guitar genius/god who’s been tinkering with guitar designs his entire life – and knows how to make a mean axe that’s ready to shred.

Deluxe vs Standard

The latest guitar model  in his signature EVH guitar brand is the new  5150 Series Guitars and they look suitably rocktastic!

Both models have basswood bodies with deep cutaways for maximum playability up the dusty end. You can go for either a 5150 Deluxe model with a  capped quilt maple top and finished in Tobacco Sunburst or Transparent Blue Burst. The 5150 Series Standard comes inn either a  Matte Army Drab, Rocket Red or Satin Primer Gray finishes.

EVH Branded

Each of the two versions comes loaded with a set of  EVH Wolfgang humbucking pickups, an EVH-branded Floyd Rose and the EVH D-Tuna factory installed. This allows you to drop your low E string down to a D with the flick of a switch, perfect for dropped-D riffs on the fly.

This guitar has one Volume and one Tone control as well as a three-way switch. Of course, you get Eddie’s preferred 500K EVH Bourns Low Friction Pot for the volume and the  250K EVH Bourns High Friction for the tone control.

These models come with a 12”-16” compound radius neck. The Deluxe model fretboard is ebony, while the Standard fingerboard is made from maple. Both come loaded with 22 jumbo frets. The 25.5″ scale length necks have hand-rubbed urethane finishes for a really smooth ride and as well as a truss rod heel adjustment spoke wheel. I love the easy adjustment this offers and makes setting your guitar a breeze.

Kramer Pacer?

Full specifications, pricing and exact release dates have not yet been officially announced. However, I reckon they look like the classic Kramer Pacer model that Eddie played in the ’80s. Since Gibson own Kramer, will we see a lawsuit?

I have zero doubt in my mind that these guitars will be amazing, but then I do own two Wolfgang guitars myself, so you could say I’m a fan of Mr Van Halen’s work!

RRP – Deluxe TBC,  Standard USD 1241.37
