Apparently, the first run of 10 sold out almost immediately, so Calsynth is hoping to pull together a few more. At a cost of $199 for the pair, it’s raised almost $2,000 for the humanitarian effort in Ukraine. Calsynth is a California company run by Struan and offers fully built versions of the ST Modular modules and a few others.

Clipping Cat is a vactrol based distortion with hard (CAT) or soft (NO CAT) clipping. It can produce some seriously gnarly sounds from any sort of input. It can also function as a LPG with CV control. If you want to light the eyes, you’ll have to push it with some serious gain in CAT mode. It’s delicious.

EFI is a dual-mode analogue filter in the style of the Korg MS-20. It has low and high pass modes and some serious self-oscillating resonance with overdrive.

Both of these modules are fun and exciting things to play with and can bring some terrific tones into your rack. They are sold as a pair and look amazing in these colours. Hopefully, by the time the next batch is ready, these will be modules of celebration rather than humanitarian support in a time of war. It’s amazing that Struan is giving the entire cost price to charity – great stuff.

    Why not red-white-black?
Jemen was attacked by Saudi Arabia in 2015. War is going on until today with more than 370.000 deaths. One of the greatest humanitary crisis today on the planet. Noone cares.
    Such hypocrites…..

      Have a different view:
Every time when I see these news I go to manufacturer shop to check the price. Guess what I see so far every time? SOLD OUT bage… So I think they make just few pieces (or maybe no real ones) to become famous on the hype. Proof me wrong. I would like to see, how many real units they sold to help people of Ukraine.

Calsynth is one guy, making modules, who has to get front panels printed, he made 10 and gave all of the money to help people in the Ukraine. Why do you feel you are owed proof of anything? Just give and don’t get yourself in a twist over someone else’s good intentions.

Hey Omi – happy to give you proof – send me a message on the calsynth page, with your real name and contact info, and I can absolutely share with you the receipts for the 2000 dollars raised that went to MSF and UNICEF. Have a good one!

Hey WOK I’m sorry you’ve gone senile it must be confusing.

Nobody is denying the tragedy of any wars except YOU out here in EVERY comment section trying to minimize the Ukraine crisis.

Only one denying the tragedy of war is YOU popping up in EVERY Ukraine article trying to minimize THEIR crisis.

So, help everyone or no one, that’s your vibe? People are doing what they can and there are plenty of other conflicts you can be concerned about and charities that will help you support those in need.

Thanks Robin for this – it would probably help if people actually asked what has been done for others. I’ve in fact been sending a portion of all sales for years to humanitarian causes around the world. But anonymous internet users will be anonymous internet users! Appreciate you sharing this. The donations are in the hands of those who need them. Cheers

      Hey Wok!

I am more than happy to share with you the hundreds of posts I’ve personally made about injustices including the situation in Yemen. No hypocrisy here at all. I wish you well and hope you find some peace.
