Ola Englund is a blonde-haired Swedish metal guitarist who once blagged a signature model from Washburn guitars, but decided he could do it better. And thus, Solar Guitars was born. His latest offering, Vinter, is based on that very first Washburn signature model, in a striking Pearl White finish. The guitar looks frosty cool, and is crammed with quality hardware and features.

Solar Guitars’ A1.6 Vinter

You gotta love Ola. His Swedish metal chugging riffs and random burping during videos are all part of his charm. And he always comes across as a down-to-earth guitarist, who knows exactly what he likes. His latest offering from Solar Guitars is the A1.6 Vinter in a stunning Pearl White Matte finish.

Fishman Fluence

This 6-string model has some amazing specs, and shows that Ola puts some thought into all the models that come out with the Solar Guitars’ logo. You get an EverTune bridge paired with a set of Solar high-ratio 18:1 locking tuners fitted to the reverse headstock, and a graphite nut. This puppy will stay in tune no matter what you throw at it! It comes loaded with a set of Fishman Fluence Modern humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, wired via a single volume and tone control, and a three-way blade pickup selector.

Thru-Neck Sustain

The Vinter has an alder body and a 25.5″ scale length. The three-piece maple set-thru neck has Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots, 24 super-jumbo stainless steel frets, and an ebony fingerboard with a 13.78″ radius and a single twelfth fret marker.

I’m a big fan of the way Ola runs Solar Guitars and how he manages to cover various price points, without compromising on hardware choices. The Vinter model may be in the upper end of the price scale, but I think it offers great value for money when compared to a lot of the competition. Every Solar Guitars model I have played has been flawless and punches way above its weight, and I have no reason to believe this new model will be any different.
