IK Multimedia Beat Machines for SampleTank 4
IK Multimedia released Beat Machines for its SampleTank 4 sample player. It’s an extensive collection of 1.6 GB of audio sampled from 100 vintage drum machines. There are also 300+ MIDI patterns and 200+ preset kits. All 100 vintage machines have been meticulously recorded and brought to life via the same DRIFT algorithm used for IK’s Syntronik. All the available presets are mapped to the General MIDI drum mapping standard so they can be dropped into any DAW session and played straight away. The mapping is also consistent with the other drum kits in SampleTank 4, so you can mix, match, and layer kit reasonably freely. If you know SampleTank 4 and its expansions, you know what to expect. If you don’t, there’s always the free SE edition to get a taste from.
- Beat Machines is available for $/€ 80. You can buy it from IK Multimedia.
- Sampletank 4 is available from IK Multimedia and our affiliate partner Thomann *
Vienna Symphonic Library Vienna MIR Pro 3D
The Vienna Symphonic Library released its third-generation software product with newly added 3D Audio Support, 3rd order & ‘raw’ Ambisonics, Tabbled Venues, and Upmixing options. Thus, Vienna MIR Pro 3D provides the needed output options for a wide range of applications, including stereo, surround, binaural, Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D, and Sony 360 Reality Audio.
Instruments, virtual microphones and microphone capsules can be moved around in a fluid three-dimensional space and rotated and tilted in any direction. All existing RoomPack venues have been upscaled to HOA by means of a proprietary process developed at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics at the University of Graz. Additionally, multiple rooms and different room setups can be used side-by-side by dropping instruments or whole orchestras between halls. Also found is a new preset management system and the ability to use the software as a simple, but proficient tool for creating immersive mixes from stereo sources.
Introductory prices start at EUR 325 and a 30-day demo is available. As per the official system requirements, be prepared to throw at least 12GB of RAM at the instrument for a comfortable working experience.
Native Instruments Empire Breaks
Bringing a total of 247 multi-sampled sounds across 30 kits, Empire Breaks is a Play series expansion that lets you layer big bass, orchestral stacks, off-kilter keys, and hybrid textures. Additionally, the included 480 groove patterns can be edited in any DAW with MIDI drag and drop support.
The sounds cover the essence of classic, sample-based drum with kicks, claps, toms, and hats captured using the equipment that defined the golden era of hip-hop.
Powered by the free Kontakt Player, Empire Breaks is available to purchase for 49 EUR/USD from Native Instruments.
Rast Sound VoxPlay
VoxPlay brings playable vocal performances recorded from 20 vocalists in contemporary styles. The instrument lets you create and play melodies with short phrases, vibrato takes, and others kinds of phrasing in up to 2 octaves.
The nerdy stats: 1.8GB of samples (Kontakt or WAV), 72 vocal setups, 20 performers, royalty-free content. The instrument requires Kontakt 5.8+ full to work. Until July 265, the intro price is EUR 29, down from EUR 49.
