The 8180 Monster Tube Guitar Amplifier is Nembrini Audio’s newest virtual amp in its plugin range, and follows on from last month’s Cali Reverb plugin. According to the manufacturer, this plugin is a “landmark for heavy and rock guitar sounds”. If that doesn’t pique your interest, the price is currently greatly reduced until the end of May!

If you’re looking for “fat” modern high-gain sounds, you might like this new virtual amp. The new 8180 Monster Tube Guitar Amplifier plugin from Nembrini Audio is a flexible 120 watt amp simulation. It models four virtual 12AX7 pre-amp tubes and four 6L6GC power amp tubes, a typical layout for this style of amp head. There are two channels, with each one having its own independent controls for volume and gain. From there, the audio signal  goes through a three-band equalizer and an exclusive power amp resonance and presence control.

Virtual Environment

The plugin comes with six different cabs and four microphone emulations that you can experiment with in the virtual room and recording environment, as well as some additional parameters for shaping the effect and tone. You can blend between these microphones and effects using the mixer section. Also very interesting is the Impulse Response (IR) Loader, which can import up to three third-party IRs. These can be blended and applied to the overall tone, which I think is a neat little feature. Finally there is a cleaner, which removes unwanted low and high frequencies, and a noise gate.

Prices and dates

If you hurry, you can get the Nembrini Audio 8180 Monster Tube Guitar Amplifier from the manufacturer’s website for an introductory price of $29 until May 30 2020, instead of the regular $137. The plugin runs on Mac OSX 10.9 or higher and Windows 7 or higher, in VST, VST3, AAX and AU fromats. For authorization, you’ll need a free iLok account (or dongle). And if you’d rather try the plugin out before paying for it, there’s a demo version and a PDF user manual also available for download.
