Nebuphonic Nebudestru: Destruction Unit
How much distortion would you like? If your answer to this question is “yes!”, the Nebudestru“destruction unit” from Nebuphonic should be right up your alley. Stuffed full of various audio degradation tools (all of which can be used at once), Nebudestru specializes in the art of audio destruction.
In addition to a distortion module with several types to choose from, Nebudestru includes two saturators, a vinyl noise generator, and a lo-fi EQ specially designed to “degrade clarity”. It’s also got a bitcrusher and a voltage quantizer, as well as a pair of resonant filters. And with three LFOs that can be routed to eight different destinations, you can easily create modulated distortion effects that sync to your DAW.
Nebudestru is available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.
Outobugi Toner: 4-Band Tone Shaping EQ
Outobugi has quickly made a name for himself in the freeware scene with plugins such as Dynastor, Refire, or Wave. The developer’s latest release is Toner, a 4-band tone shaping equalizer for Windows.
Each band has frequency and gain knobs, as well as a balance control. Moreover, you can choose from L/R and M/S modes for each band separately. There’s also a saturation knob for adding warmth, as well as a de-emphasis control that applies an inverted EQ setting.
Toner is a VST3 plugin for Windows.
ToneLib TL TubeWarmth 2.0
ToneLib recently updated the free TL TubeWarmth tube saturation plugin (we covered the first version here). The new version not only sports an updated GUI, but also comes with a bunch of new features.
There’s a new Extra Heat knob that lets you add more gain while keeping the warmth and transparency of the tube sound. It’s also got an animated input/output display that makes it easy to monitor what each parameter is doing. Lastly, ToneLib has added an A/B switch for comparing two different settings.
TL TubeWarmth is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST, VST3, and AU formats.
