The Meridian from Modbap brings two filters to a convergence of different elements, with side FX, multiple types and modes for some unique textures.

It looks like a lot is going on in Meridian. A barrage of buttons and modes at the top gives way to an intriguingly nautical “PRIMEFREQ” knob, splitting the two filters and cascading down through a valley of effects and into the CV control.

The two filters are independent not only in signal routing but also in mode and type. We’re very used to multimode filters offering low, high, notch and bandpass but here, we get to choose from four types as well. The types on offer are Ladder, OTA, Comb and Formant. The fact that you can run Meridian in series or parallel means you can combine some very different filters. And that’s where the PRIMEFREQ comes in. It’s a macro control that moves the filters in tandem.

In the middle section, we get a Drive circuit, a Phase Shifter and a pingable Low Pass Gate (LPG). That adds a lot of additional flavour and the usefully short LPG action to shape the output to the rhythm of your pings.

It’s a very distinct-looking filter and could get very performable. Modbaps suggests it’s perfect partnered up with the Osiris.

I’m nuts about Modbap. Their aesthetic is so pleasing and the couple of modules of theirs that I own (Osiris and Transit) offer a lot of surprises and interesting features. I wish I could afford their entire line…maybe that should be a longterm goal. Anyways, I’m a big fan and this looks awesome.
