This week The Godfather sold out on Indiegogo, Erica Synths gives us a mixer to build and AJH Synth has a tap tempo, voltage-controlled LFO to play with.
The most exciting news of the week was the release of The Godfather on Indiegogo for a price that was much less than we feared. The Godfather from Enjoy Electronics is a 4-channel mixer and audio processor built in the semi-modular style of the Moog Mother-32. Read more about it here.
Erica Synths releases the next module in its educational DIY series. This time it’s the Mixer which offers 3 channels and a bit of diode distortion to learn about as you build it. Read more about it here.
Midweek Modular Bits and pieces
Here are a few more bits and pieces of modular coolness that I’m pleased to shine a light on for this week’s Midweek Modular.
AJH Synth Tap Temp VC-LFO
With the classic styling, AJH Synth modules stand out soberly from any rack. The MiniMod Tap Temp VC-LFO lays its functionality out in the name. It’s an LFO with multiple waveshapes that has lots of CV control and a useful tap tempo for setting the rate. There are 16 waveshapes in total and a unique Twist function that acts like PWM on the waveforms.
You can tap in a tempo and then multiply the clock in all sorts of directions while flipping through waveforms with sequenced voltage. It’s probably more exciting than an LFO usually gets.
KAZAN is a tidy-looking 7U case for Eurorack that has a briefcase style and gives more than a nod to the Intellijel 7U Performance case. However, it has one unique feature. The 1U strip can be repositioned to the top, middle or bottom of the case giving you lots of different ways to configure your system.
It’s a really nice idea that’s able to reflect both Intellijel and Make Noise cases. It looks like there will be 84HP and 104HP versions. Kazan should be available in August.
Bright sparks among you may have noticed that the case is named after a city in South-West Russia. MDR.modular is a Russian brand but has stated that it is entirely against the war with Ukraine. We all hope the war ends soon.

Cherry Audio Rackmode modular effects
In software Eurorack emulator Voltage Modular Cherry Audio has released a bunch of effects processors based on vintage Moog modules. This includes the classic 16-channel vocoder, Vocal Oscillator, Phaser, Ring Modulator, String Filter, Frequency Shifter and EQ. They were originally released as an effects rack VST plugin but have been reworked into the Voltage Modular format with greatly expanded patching capabilities.
The bundle of 9 modules in total is available within Cherry Audio’s Voltage Modular environment for $69.
AFRORACK comes to London
We haven’t got the full details yet but Afrorack has arrived in London. It plans to bring its celebrated vision of helping communities develop and thrive through access to technology to the children and young adults of colour in England’s capital city.
More information when we get it.
