Having used several McDSP plugins, I’ve often found them impressive. I especially remember using some of their plugins for Pro Tools HD DSP-based systems, which ran very smoothly and efficiently. I took a particular interest in their dynamics processing. Besides the sonics of the product, I expect that engineering a modular-style plugin to be both DSP efficient and fast isn’t easy. However, McDSP should excel here.

Immediately I recognised this product to be similar to Slate’s Virtual Mix Rack. This is clearly a modern format for plugins as complete/group licensing options have become so popular. This feels like another important and necessary move by McDSP to move with the times, along with their new subscription-based licensing.

The new 6050 plugin will be a host to over 25 modules for EQ and filtering, dynamics and saturation style processing. Intended for mixing, it will include all the modules from the 6020 Ultimate EQ and 6030 Ultimate Compressor plug-ins. The 6050 will be available in AAX (Native & DSP), AU and VST formats.

This is sure to be another great alternative for all your mixing requirements, but no release date or price information is available yet. I wonder if this will have a separate subscription option in an addition to their all-access bundle.
