Another Joyo pedal, and about time! The last one was announced about five minutes ago, after all… Joyo’s new Preamp House gives a range of distorted clean and distorted tones with Marshall, Fender, Vox flavours – all packed into one handy pedal aimed at the cost-conscious guitarist.
Nine preamps in one compact pedal
Yes, indeed the new Joyo Preamp House pedal squeezes in the following nine preamp models:
- ‘65 Twin
- JCM 900
- AC 30
- Dual Rectifier
- 5150 III
Quite a list! You have all the usual preamp tones in the style of Fender, Vox and Marshall amps, but you also get some more boutique and modern flavours with Mesa, ENGL, Peavey and Friedman models. All that makes for a pretty versatile pedal with lots of tones to choose from.
Clean and Distortion
Each of the amps comes with a clean and distortion channel that are turned on and off via a footswitch.
Other controls include Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble and Volume. There’s also a built-in cabinet simulation and an FX loop interface for use with your effect pedals. The Preamp House also has a handy balanced XLR out with a ground lift switch. Again, a useful feature when working in live or studio environments.
Another aspect is the ambient light on the rear and front of the pedal. These are in the same style as those on previous Joyo pedals and make it easier to see it on a darkened stage. Useful, if not a deal-breaker.
Take a listen tot the official demo video below to hear the new Joyo Preamp House in action. For the money, I think it offers a lot of choice and could be a cheap way of expanding your selection of amp tones at gigs or in the studio.
