iZotope has announced two new products — VocalSynth 2 and Creative Suite. VocalSynth 2 is particularly interesting, as it features an innovative new module called Biovox. It models the physical and acoustic properties of the human vocal tract, letting you alter vocals (or other input signals) in great detail. Factors include nasality, vowel shapes, and formants.

Biovox looks super cool but at the same time, it seems easy to use. There are four knobs, pitch and voicing correction, and an alien-looking visualizer which looks particularly inviting.

That’s not all there is to VocalSynth 2. By user request, you can now drag and drop effects to reorder and chain them according to your preference. There are two new effects modules as well — Chorus and Ring Modulator, the latter with the ability to act like a tremolo.

VocalSynth version 2 also enables Advanced controls in all modules, such as Vocoder band controls, oscillator presets, panning, and filtering. The final touch is integration with Neutron 2’s Masking Meter, Visual mixer, and Tonal Balance Control tools. The plug-in is “coming soon.”

As for the new iZotope Creative Suite, it brings all of the developer’s sound design tools in one place. CS contains VocalSynth 2, Iris 2, Trash 2 Expanded, BreakTweaker Expanded, Stutter Edit, DDLY, and Mobius Filter. It’s currently priced USD 350, with a regular price of USD 499.
