This week on Guitar Gear Gems we check out the KHDK Electronics limited run Night of the Living Shred by Zacky Vengeance high gain fuzz pedal. Then we check out The Amp Stereo by Milkman Sound which is a follow-up to the original launched back in 2018. Finally, we check out the latest software from Nembrini Audio, who have just announced the new Cali Axis virtual amp.

Night of the Living Shred

This KHDK Electronics Night of the Living Shred is a limited-run high-gain fuzz pedal made for Avenged Sevenfold’s Zacky Vengeance.

It comes with both gain and fuzz circuits that are 100% independent of each other. This means users can mix in as much or as little into their signal, from 0 to 100.

Controls

The pedal comes with controls for Gain, Bass, Treble, Drive, Fuzz and Volume, plus a bypass switch. Each pedal comes with original zombie artwork by Mario Lopez.

The Amp Stereo

Milkman Sound are now back with The Amp Stereo which is as the name suggests a stereo version of the amp. They released a pedal-format amp back in 2018. Then in 202o, they followed that up with the Amp 100 model, which had even more power and now we have a stereo version of this model.

The Amp Stereo

This new version has a high-headroom analogue stereo, or dual mono guitar amplifier in a pedal format. It has two outputs and can handle various wattages, depending on what cabinets you pair with the amp.

50W 16ohm Output x2
100W 8ohm Output x2
200W 4ohm Output x2

Each side has Volume, Treble and Bass controls, plus it also features Sum which converts the two independent channels to mono (both outputs) and Phase which flips phase on the right channel (useful for wet/dry).

These amps are all built by hand in California, so expect a really high build quality with quality components throughout.

Nembrini Audio

Nembrini Audio has just announced the new Cali Axis virtual tube amp software. It is based on the Mesa Boogie TriAxis preamplifier and offers a virtual take on that classic American tone.

Eight separate modes including the Mk I, Mk IV and a modified British lead mod amongst them.

The virtual guitar rig also features a power amp section with virtual EL34 tubes with controls for presence, resonance, volume and power switch in a class AB push-pull configuration. Plus, a range of effects that includes just about all the basics you could need including compression, delay, reverb, etc

Plus, they have a really nice Virtual Cab and IR loader system, which is super flexible and easy to use.

It is currently at an introductory price of $29.99 instead of the standard $137, which is a great saving.

I have always found Nembrini Audio’s software to be really great value for money and it also has really good quality amp emulations. Well worth checking out, if you haven’t tried them.

It runs on both Mac and PC under VST2, VST3, AAX or an AudioUnits-compatible host.

There is also a version available for Apple iOS for only $9.99 if you need to run it on your iPhone or iPad.

Plus, they do a range of very high-quality free software as well. Definitely, one of my favourite guitar software companies and I would always suggest people check them out.
