Guillotine is a new free plugin by Witch Pig that chops up your audio and lets you go wild with bit crushing, distortion, and modulation. This week’s collection of freebies also brings you a creative distortion and modulation effect by Linda Audio and a cool Big Muff emulation by Nembrini Audio.
Witch Pig Guillotine: Off to the Chopper!
Don’t we all love chopped, gated, tempo-synced effects? As the name suggests, Witch Pig Guillotine is an expert at slicing your audio tracks into pulsating, BPM-synced fragments. You can adjust the number of slices up to a maximum of 32. After that, what’s left over can be mangled and modulated to your heart’s content using the built-in bit crusher and distortion effects. Turn your guitars, synth pads, vocals, or any other audio track into pulsating rhythms!
Guillotine is available as a VST3 plugin for macOS and Windows. Unfortunately, there’s no word of an AU version yet.
Nembrini Audio Big Stuff emulates everyone’s favorite distortion
The amp and pedal experts from Nembrini Audio are back with Big Stuff, a free emulation of the famous Big Muff distortion pedal from Electro Harmonix. According to the developer, Big Stuff delivers the same sweet sustain that made the Big Muff a legend in the hands of Jimi Hendrix. Adjust your sound with the volume and tone knobs, and then dial in the perfect amount of sustain. This effect belongs in everyone’s collection – even if you’re not a guitarist.
Big Stuff is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
Linda Audio InstaVibe: Tasty lo-fi Vibes
InstaVibe by Linda Audio is a saturation / tube distortion plugin with a bunch of extras. In addition to a versatile EQ, the plugin boasts a noise section that emulates the artifacts of cassettes and vinyl records. There’s also a modulation section where you can add typical pitch fluctuations, or even a quad chorus effect. If you’re looking for some tasty tube saturation and distortion paired with typical lo-fi tape and vinyl effects, InstaVibe is worth a look.
InstaVibe is available for Windows in VST and VST3 formats.
