Sabbath guitarist offers signature SG Special in both left and right-handed models

The new Epiphone Tony Iommi SG Special offers players the chance to get close to that iconic Black Sabbath guitar tone for under £1000. Following on from the premium Gibson version from 2021.
Epiphone Tony Iommi SG Special
This Epiphone Tony Iommi SG Special is available in both right-handed and left-handed versions finished in Vintage Cherry on launch. As Mr Iommi is a left-handed guitarist, this makes perfect sense and I’m glad Epiphone is offering both versions. The guitar itself is based on his somewhat iconic SG Special and is loaded with twin chrome-covered Epiphone PRO P-90 single coil pickups.
These pickups are wired using premium CTS pots and Orange Drop capacitors, which should make the controls more usable and responsive. Though, I doubt most players will ever dial them anywhere other than on 10.

Construction
It features a two-piece mahogany body, a bound one-piece mahogany neck with a rounded profile and an Indian laurel fretboard fitted with 22 frets. Hardware includes a Graph Tech nut, and a set of Grover Rotomatic tuners with contemporary style buttons. This model also features an adjustable wraparound bridge and has things like Witch Hat knobs for the controls. All of which is in keeping with this style of SG.

Monkey Decal
The guitars all come with a quality Epiphone hard case, and you get that famous Monkey Decal that Iommi has on his original guitar. It is great to see a more affordable version of this iconic guitar and hopefully, players will enjoy making it sound heavy. Doom-laden riffs lay ahead!
