Rex Brown Thunderbird Bass
This new Epiphone Rex Brown Thunderbird Bass is constructed using a 9-ply neck-through-body design. It is made by combining mahogany and walnut for the 34″ scale length neck with a C-shape profile neck shape. Adding strength and rigidity to the design. The fretboard on this model is made using Indian Laurel and is fitted with 20 medium jumbo frets and a brass nut.
This then has a pair of body wings made of mahogany and has that traditional Thunderbird style and construction.
Affordable T-Bird
It is based on his Gibson signature model which was released back in 2022 and it has the same styling, just at a much lower price point than the US-made Gibson model.

ProBucker Loaded
It comes fitted with a pair of the Epiphone ProBucker 760 bass pickups, in nickel covers. These should offer all the classic rock and metal tones. They are wired using CTS potentiometers so they should be easy to dial in if you like to use your volume and tone controls.
The bridge is a Babicz FCH 3-Point model with Epiphone string spacing and like the rest of the hardware it is finished in gold. This bridge is paired with a set of die-cast tuners with Mini Clover Buttons.
Signature Hints
Overall, it has some great features. With a few subtle nods toward it being a signature model. These include Rex Brown’s signature displayed on the back of the headstock, and the rear control cover features a unique Rex Brown logo doodle.
Protected
Thankfully, Epiphone has also seen sense to include a hard case with this model. This is great as Thunderbird bass cases are a bit of a rare bird. Therefore, it is very nice to have one included in the price point.
