As ever Chase Bliss Audio never makes anything simple to describe. The new Habit delay pedal has a lot of features. Combining delays, with the ability to sample from the memory bank.

A lot of controls
The top row of controls is relatively standard for a delay. With Level (Ramp), Repeats and Size. Whereas the second row has controls for Modify, Spread and Scan. Then you get the third row with mini switches with multiple functions. Finally, factor in all those 16 dip switch options on the top of the pedal, plus the ability to control it via MIDI, CV and an expression pedal.
How Deep?
I like that Chase Bliss says it hasn’t figured out everything the Habit can do, so don’t feel bad if it all comes across as a little confusing. They have even produced a 15-minute long video manual to accompany the printed manual.

Loop, Sample, Repeat
Essentially, you can sample from the internal memory. As the Habit is always sampling audio, so you can have it play parts back randomly. Then combine this with the delay and layer sounds. Think of the pedal as a digital tape reel then factor in all that control, and it could possibly be an endless source of creativity.
