New Custom Shop models based on the Dinky body shape
Charvel has just expanded its offering in the premium price range with some great-looking new USA Select DK24 2PT models, all built by the Charvel team at the Custom Shop in Corona, California.

Because the new USA Select DK24 2PT models are all produced in the company’s Custom Shop, we can expect some great high-quality instruments built with meticulous attention to detail.
The DK24 2PT models are all based around the classic Dinky shape with an alder body, with scooped neck joints for better upper fret access and a body shape that’s slightly smaller than the standard Strat-style body. I own a custom Dinky myself and its shape is very comfortable to play.

Speed Neck
The bolt-on neck is caramelised maple, with graphite reinforcement and a silky-smooth hand-rubbed urethane back. A quick look at the specs confirms that this thing is built for speed: 12”-16” compound radius with a caramelised maple fingerboard with rolled edges, 24 stainless steel jumbo frets, pearl dot inlays, Luminlay side dots, a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut and heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel.

Seymour Duncan HSS
Now for the pickups. This series has a Seymour Duncan Full Shred SH-10B bridge pickup, a custom Seymour Duncan Flat Strat SSL-6 single-coil middle pickup and custom Seymour Duncan Flat Strat SSL-6 RWRP single-coil neck pickup. That HSS configuration will no doubt cover a huge variety of tones.
The pickups are wired via a a five-way blade switch, with Strat-style skirt knobs for the volume with 500K EVH Bourns low friction potentiometer and use no-load tone controls.
The DK24 2PT uses a Gotoh Custom 510 recessed two-point tremolo bridge with titanium saddles and a nice thick brass block. That’s paired with a set of USA-made Sperzel locking tuners to hold the tuning. Expect solid tuning.

Finish Options
The USA Select DK24 HSS 2PT CM is available in Quicksilver with chrome hardware or Satin Black with gold hardware. Or you can opt for the more luxurious looking USA Select DK24 HSS 2PT CM QM with its fancy quilt maple top wrapped in Autumn Glow or Blue Burst with a neat masked-off natural binding and chrome hardware.
