This new feature-packed 8-stage phaser pedal from Catalinbread, Many Worlds, certainly offers lovers of phasing some pretty stunning options to play with. With 8 selectable phase control parameters, 6 LFOs, and 2 envelope-dependent phase shift modes, this stompbox has a lot going on. Included within those 6 LFOs are sine and square sharing the same control with reverse sawtooth, and two independently controlled and inter-modulating sine waves.

Complex?
It may look overwhelming, since there is so much it can do. There are LFO settings that will give you classic Phase 90-style modulations, through to full on Battle Mode that multiplies two controllable sine waves, and everything in-between. The pedal’s controls are relatively straightforward. You have an LFO rotary switch to choose your starting point, and Freq/Attack, Depth/Freq 2/Sens and FDBK controls, as well as a Mix control.
The Freq/Attack controls the frequency of the LFO and when in envelope control, ATTACK controls the low pass filter frequency in the envelope detector algorithm. Then Depth/Freq2/Sens controls the amplitude of the LFO. When in Battle mode, FREQ2 controls the frequency of the second LFO. In Envelope Control mode, Send controls the input gain into the envelope detection algorithm. Feedback is used control to the internal feedback and, Catalinbread states that turning it clockwise creates a drippier, more intense phase. Finally, the Mix control allows you to blend the wet/dry mix too taste.
My advice would be to check out some of the demo videos below, as no amount of words can really give you the full picture. And this 8-stage phaser has a lot to offer.
