Mr Black has taken its GilaMondo 8-stage phase-shifter and condensed it into the new Mini Phaser. The company has tweaked and updated the circuit in this mini pedal to give you great syrupy phase tones.
Mr Black Mini Phaser
This new Mr Black pedal is based on the company’s larger GilaMondo. The Mini Phaser is the latest addition to the company’s Mini Pedals series, and if you want nice chewy, slow phase tones, you will no doubt enjoy this diminutive black stompbox. It looks pretty minimal, but it has everything you need for quality phase tones.
You control the pedal’s 8-stage phase circuit with three knobs: Width controls the oscillator sweep range, Speed adjusts the oscillator speed, and Enhance acts as an active recycle/boost parameter. The pedal itself is true-bypass and will run from an external 9V DC power supply.
As ever with Mr Black pedals, these are all hand built in Portland, Oregon, USA, so expect exceptional build quality. I own some of their pedals and love their build quality and tones. Don’t be fooled by the minimal appearance of this little pedal, as I think the phaser tones really speak for themselves. You can hear it in the demo video below. I’ve always loved a good phaser effect as it can give your guitar tone, some subtle, or not so subtle movement. Plus I love a good chewy, syrupy phasing tone.
The price point on the pedal is $139, which makes it the most expensive of all the mini pedals in the line. But it sounds like a very good 8-stage phaser, so I can see why it costs a little extra.
RRP – USD 139
