Plugin Alliance has released Brainworx bx_masterdesk Classic. Just like the full version of bx_masterdesk, the new Classic version offers a full mastering chain in a single plug-in, all controlled by a few simple knobs. And the best part: bx_masterdesk Classic is available for free until November 24!
Plugin Alliance Brainworx bx_masterdesk Classic
Brainworx has simplified its bx_masterdesk plug-in even further and created bx_masterdesk Classic. The new plug-in is based on the same architecture as the full version of bx_masterdesk. With even simpler controls, Brainworx says that it allows you to master your tracks with a minimal learning curve.
bx_masterdesk Classic features a 3-step workflow for quick results. I’m not sure if it really lets you “churn out high-quality masters in under a minute”, as Brainworx claims, but it’s definitely very quick and easy.
The first step is to dial in the desired perceived loudness using the Volume control. A dynamic range VU meter helps to find the sweet spot. After that, you can use the Foundation knob to tweak the overall tonality and balance between lows and highs. Finally, there’s a Tone control that adjusts the master from bright to dark.
If desired, you can go a step further and use the Stereo Enhance feature to control the stereo field of your master. Another knob lets you to dial in a bit of THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) for added girth and punch.
While the controls are simple, the underlying algorithms are based on a high-end analog mastering chain, Brainworx says. The analog gear was modeled using the developer’s TMT Tolerance Modeling Technology.
