#BLACKEDXOUT is all over Instagram, but what does it mean?

If you follow many of the major boutique guitar companies on Instagram you may have seen the #BLACKEDXOUT in the last few days. Nobody knows for sure what it all means yet, but many of the top names in the guitar effects game are involved.

Whatever it turns out to mean, this hashtag is appearing all over Instagram, and seems connected to many guitar and effect pedal companies. Currently, you can find Friedman Amps, Dunable, Zvex Effects, Wampler, Walrus Audio, Old Blood Noise Endeavors, EarthQuaker Devices, Death By Audio, Land Devices, Meris and JHS all taking part, displaying the graphic below.
Black Friday?
Many guitarists believe it could be a coordinated Black Friday deal, possibly a giveaway of some sort. We aren’t sure, but hopefully all will be revealed soon! All the boutique companies involved are keeping tight lipped about the whole thing, so for now it’s all a bit of a mystery.
Whatever it is, it’s a massive and coordinated social media campaign that has the guitar forums burning up with speculation. Whatever it turns out to be, it appears to have done a good job in getting everybody interested. Of course, we could just end up with a load of black effects pedal boxes…
