The Avantone Pro Planar II is the latest version of the reference-grade open-back headphones with magnetic planar drivers, designed for both listening and mixing.
Although Avantone Pro is not known as a specialist headphones manufacturer, it is known for creating products with a high utility value and plenty of research and development behind them.

The II takes the original Planar design and optimizes it in a few ways, firstly by making it more comfortable and lightweight. In addition, the headphone cable and its connector have been improved and the range of colours is expanded with a cream option.
Technically, The II remains the same reference quality planar-driven set of headphones with the distinctively sci-fi-looking circumaural open-back design.
According to Avantone Pro, this style of driver creates a broad wavefront that produces low-distortion levels and characteristically fast transients.

Compared to the usual coil-based drivers, you should experience a more subtle and natural-sounding overall listening experience with a tighter low-frequency response.
So, with this in mind, it makes sense that The II headphones are recommended not only for listening but for mixing too, as the neutral frequency-response contour should give them decent translation properties.
In terms of sustainability, the II’s earpads and cable are replaceable. What’s more, the fact that they have a relatively low impedance rating of 32 ohms makes them compatible with any consumer device without the need for a headphones preamplifier.
