The AnalogFX Larynx picks up where the SER-2020 left off: the keyboard version of the Synton Syrinx-inspired analog synth comes with a couple of interesting add-ons.

A few years ago, Dutch boutique manufacturer AnalogFX introduced the SER-2020 – a beautiful semi-modular analog synth that draws inspiration from the rare Synton Syrinx from 1983. Unveiled just in time for Superbooth 26, the new Larynx is a keyboard version of the same synth, but with a couple of exciting extras.

Like the SER-2020, the Larynx features dual CEM3340 oscillators with PWM and sync, a sub-oscillator linked to VCO 1, a ring modulator, and noise. It also features the unique triple filter setup of the Syrinx, which enables formant-like sounds through a combination of two independent bandpass filters and one lowpass filter. In the Larynx, all three filters use CEM3350 chips. A selector switch lets you choose from four different filter routings – a key feature of the Syrinx that offers a huge potential for sonic exploration. For modulation, there are two LFOs and two ADSR envelope generators.

The unique “Touch’n’Bend” pressure controller also draws inspiration from the Syrinx and allows for expressive control. The 37-key keybed with aftertouch adds another layer of expressiveness. A good selection of patch sockets lets you integrate the synth into a modular setup and offers many creative patching opportunities.

Like the latest evolution of the SER-2020, the Larynx offers a formant mode with 16 pre-programmed filter settings modeled after the human voice – perfect for speech synthesis and a wide spectrum of unusual sounds.

However, there are a couple of things the Larynx can do that the SER-2020 can’t. Unlike the desktop model, the keyboard version offers a stereo delay that can be LFO-modulated and controlled via CV. It also features a new section with an arpeggiator and a sequencer, although the manufacturer has yet to share the details on this.

Price and Availability

AnalogFX plans to produce just 50 units of the Larynx, so it’s probably a good idea to be quick, should you want one. You can now pre-order the synth with a 10% introductory discount for €929, which is surprisingly affordable for a boutique analog synth. Shipping will begin in September 2026.
