Superbooth Deals of the Week
Elektron Tonverk Sampler on Sale
Few companies embody the spirit of Superbooth like Elektron. Techno through and through, even though Elektron is a Swedish company, it’s right at home in Berlin, the techno capital of the world. This year, they’ve only debuted two utility products, the Outbox 8 and Powerhub for Overbridge devices, but if you’re going that route, you’ll need some gear to run through them. That’s why today I’m recommending Tonverk.

The Elektron Tonverk sampler is the company’s most recent big release. Part sampler, part synthesizer, it’s very much part of the Elektron ecosystem while also expanding on things in some interesting ways. The big selling point is the multi-samples, which let you use Tonverk like a hardware Kontakt. Also exciting is the use of subtracks, which let you expand each single track out into eight monophonic and multitimbral subtracks, each with its own sample, sequencer, and individual parameter controls. This lets you turn eight tracks into 64! A recent update added the Wavefinder wavetable synthesis instrument as well.
Elektron gear is extremely high quality. It’s also not cheap. But right now, you can add the Elektron Tonverk sampler to your tabletop techno setup for only $1199 / £1079 / €1229 at Thomann*.

KORG Monologue on Sale
Back in 2016, KORG followed up the very successful Minilogue with the Monologue. It joined the company’s growing line of Logue instruments, bringing a bass-focused monosynth option to the series. Ten years later and the Monologue is still a great synth, yet still somewhat underrated.

This weekend at Superbooth, KORG is showing off its new mixer, the NTS-4. It looks like a solid little mixer and perfect for plugging in your synths. The only problem could be having enough gear to fill up those channels. If you’ve been wanting Monologue to be a part of your synthesizer studio, now is a great time, as the black version is available for a very nice price at Thomann.
Still need convincing? Monologue borrows some design cues from the Minilogue but is its own beast, with a new filter and unusual envelope structure for crafting bass and lead sounds. As befitting a bass machine, it’s also got an expanded sequencer. Sync that up to your DAW and it’s acid city. It’s even got microtuning for those forays into Aphex Twin IDM territory.
Pick a black Monologue up now from Thomann* for $281 / £250 / €285.

Polyend MESS for a Great Price
Polyend consistently surprises. At NAMM this year, it wowed everyone with its promptable AI-powered guitar pedal, Endless. This weekend at Superbooth saw the company turning heads with Drums, a flat-out gorgeous drum machine to challenge the hegemony of the TR-1000. Another of its fantastic products, the hardware effects unit MESS, is currently available at a great price.

MESS debuted at Superbooth last year, which makes it extra perfect that it’s Deal of the Week at Thomann now. And don’t let the name fool you. MESS is anything but: it’s a digital multi-effect step sequencer pedal with a similar form factor to the company’s Step drum machine pedal. It’s got a bunch of effects algorithms (more than 120!) that run the gamut from distortions, filters and reverbs, to more out-there fare like granular engines, micro-loopers and spectral processing.
Things get even better when you engage the step sequencer. You can sequence all or none of the four effects, and assign dynamic effects to each step. Additionally, MESS offers per-step chance options and control over the speed subdivisions and length of all four sequencers for polyrhythms and polymeters. Tempo is handled via tapping or MIDI clock.
Imagine piping your new Elektron Tonverk sampler through a Polyend MESS, and holding everything down with a bassline from the KORG Monologue. Who needs Superbooth?
Polyend MESS is available at Thomann* now for the price of $589 / £525 / €599.
