Zoom, the giant of all things small, has released another wondrous little recording gadget, this time aimed at the world of podcasting and content creation.

As the name suggests, the P4next is the next generation of the PodTrak P4, a mobile microSD recorder and 12×2 USB audio interface with 24-bit 48 kHz recording capabilities. There are four XLR preamp inputs and four independent headphone outputs, which is the perfect number of inputs to meet the needs of most podcasts.
While recording or streaming, you can access the mute switches on each channel or use the four sound pads that give you 13 presets, and a total of 36 sounds across the four banks. Whether you record to your DAW or use microSDHC and microSDXC cards (max. 2 TB), each of the input signals is captured on a separate track.
What’s more, you can enhance the sound on each channel with the AI noise reduction, compressor, and tone function to get the best possible results from your mics, while reducing the level of post-production required. The PodTrak P4next can also run on iOS, and you can link a smartphone to your podcast via a standard stereo minijack aux cable or using the Zoom BTA-2 Bluetooth receiver.
For recording virtually anywhere, the PodTrak P4next has an array of different power source options, including AA batteries. Besides the power adapter, the device is also USB bus-powered, which means you can use a USB power bank, enabling extended mobile recording.
